What She Loved The Most

A/N This is my very first fanfic ever. I read it religiously, and figured it was time to get to work. It’s very short, but I feel it gets the job done. Everyone needs a little Pepperony to brighten up their day.  Sadly I don't own a thing other than a huge RDJ DVD collection.

Virginia Pepper Potts didn’t exactly hate her job, just some of the things it included. She did not like taking out the trash, then again she hasn’t had to do that in a very long time. Alcohol had been a problem too, but he promised her that he would stop.
“It’s going to be hard, and I’m probably going to act like a total ass, but I will do it for you.” He told her when she threatened to leave.
She didn’t like it when he was gone, sitting, worrying, slowly losing her mind until he returned. When he did return she would tend to his battered body, tenderly wiping away the blood, sweat and grime. She absolutely hated doing that, seeing him hurt made her heart ache, and it showed.
“Don’t look at me like that Pep.”
“I don’t know how much longer I can do this.” She whispered, tears sliding down her cheeks.
“I couldn’t do this with out you.” His dark eyes gazing into her sad blue ones, he brushed her tears away with his thumbs. “And I never want to.” She let him hold her as she quietly sobbed into his chest.

Crawling into bed at night however, was her favorite thing. She loved the warmth of the body nestled against hers. The way his disheveled hair fell into his face, the way his goatee tickled the back of her neck. This was their time, and she savored every moment of it. Every kiss, every touch, every breath. She brushed the hair from his face, and placed a loving kiss on his forehead, before she snuggled up to his sleeping form. He automatically moved his body so they fit together perfectly. She loved that too. This was the time that made the things she didn’t like worth doing.

She let the soft blue glow of her personal nightlight carry her off to sleep, as she twirled the delicate ring on her left hand. Tomorrow she would be Virginia Pepper Stark, and she loved that most of all.

Thanks for reading!
